‘Black Twitter’ reacts to George Zimmerman domestic dispute

George Zimmerman — the man acquitted in the killing of Trayvon Martin — was accused by his ex-wife Shellie Zimmerman of threatening she and her father with a gun today.
This comes almost two months since Zimmerman’s polarizing trial, which placed the former volunteer neighborhood watchman under considerable public scrutiny for his actions on the night Martin was killed. Zimmerman’s defense team argued he killed Martin in self-defense.
Since the trial, Zimmerman has repeatedly made headlines after he was pulled over twice in Florida for speeding. Recently his estranged wife filed for divorce, calling him “selfish.”
Now, Zimmerman is in the spotlight again for today’s alleged incident of domestic violence against his wife and father-in-law.
On the audio recording from Shellie Zimmerman’s 911 call, she is heard describing the incident and reports that George Zimmerman physically assaulted her father.
As of now, no charges have been filed against George Zimmerman and his gun has been returned to him.
Zimmerman’s attorney, Mark O’Mara, concedes that some ‘pushing and touching’ may have taken place, but no punching.
Almost immediately after the story broke, many African-Americans took to Twitter to express their thoughts.
Here is a sampling of a few tweets from black users on the social media site, so far:
