American citizen Bendita Malakia was in the Kenyan mall when terrorists entered, and she believes it was an American team who found and rescued her.

The 30-year-old Harvard educated lawyer was working for The World Bank in Kenya and went to the Westgate mall last Saturday.

Malakia went to meet a collegue for lunch when terrorists starting attacking mall goers.

“People were screaming,” she said. “You heard lots of running. You hear gunshots. You hear explosions. It’s complete chaos.”

Terrified for their lives, Malakia and 15 others hid in a back room of a home department store.  They could hear terrorists just a floor above them.

After more than five hours, a security team entered the store in search of her and her collegue.  She believes they were American.

They exited the mall while under fire and with grenades exploding nearby.

Malakia is now back in the states with her family.

Al Qaeda-linked Somali militant group al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for the attack.
