Beyoncé has painted her pinkie finger a marvelous, sparkly pink shade in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which started on October 1.

The superstar singer and mom posted a pic to Instagram of her sporting the nail lacquer, which was created by designer Matthew Williamson and model and actress Poppy Delevinge in partnership with Nails Inc., Hollywoodlife.com reports.

The shade, Pinkie Pink, is available from Sephora.com for $9.50. One dollar from the sale of each bottle will be donated towards the fight against breast cancer as part of the Nails Inc. Paint Your Pinkie Pink campaign.

Promoting this cause, Beyoncé posted on Instagram along with her “pinky pink” photo: “Breast Cancer Awareness month starts today [sic] paint your pinky pink!”

Beyoncé is hardly the only person to get involved. The Nails Inc. web site displays a photo stream of women who have followed suit by painting their pinkies with the shade in support of breast cancer awareness.

Breast cancer has been found to disproportionately impact black women in America. “Black women continue to be more likely than other women to be diagnosed with breast cancer before age 40, and were more likely to die of breast cancer at any age compared to other women,” CBS News reports about a recent study on the disease.

Encouraging more black women to take overall better care of their health, in addition to getting regular breast cancer screenings to improve the chance of early detection, are possible means of reversing this health care disparity, according to experts.

Beyoncé painting her pinky pink and sharing it with her 6,717,831 Instagram followers will hopefully contribute significantly to the broader goal of encouraging more women of color to engage in preventative medicine as it relates to the disease.

This is not the first time the “Crazy in Love” crooner has dedicated herself to a cause that benefits women. One of the prime forces behind this past summer’s Chime For Change concert, the pop star also known as Mrs. Carter is a co-founder of the Chime for Change non-profit organization, which advocates for the needs and rights of women and girls worldwide.
