Richard Overton was honored with a standing ovation and a box of cigars Thursday for being America’s oldest veteran.

The Texas native served in World War II and said the key to living longer is “staying out of trouble.”

The 107-year-old told Fox News earlier this year that he doesn’t take any medicine and smokes up to 12 cigars a day.

“I also stay busy around the yards, I trim trees, help with the horses,” Overton said to Fox News. “The driveways get dirty, so I clean them. I do something to keep myself moving. I don’t watch television.”

“At my age and my strength, I’m able to stand up and do anything,” he said. “My mind is good, so I’m able to do what I want.”
