DETROIT (AP) — Prosecutors are planning to announce whether they’ll charge a suburban Detroit homeowner in the shooting death of a 19-year-old woman on his porch.

The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office scheduled a news conference for Friday in Detroit. Prosecutors said earlier this week that they were reviewing evidence related to the death of Renisha McBride.

The young woman was shot in the face outside a home in Dearborn Heights early on Nov. 2. Police believe McBride was involved in a nearby car accident, and her family says she likely approached the man’s home seeking help.

The shooting has prompted calls for justice and a thorough investigation from civil rights groups.

The Associated Press has left several messages with the 54-year-old homeowner’s attorney seeking comment on the case.
