On an upcoming episode of Oprah’s Next Chapter, Reverend Al Sharpton sits down with Oprah for open and revealing conversation about his role in the civil rights movement, race in America and the moment that changed his life.

The Rejected Stone author also opens up about preaching as a young child, and the day his father left his family.

“I wake up one morning, he’s gone. Not only is he gone, my oldest sister from my mother’s first marriage…left with him and they had a child,” Sharpton said. “And then they came and took my sister to live with them.”

Later during his Next Chapter interview Sharpton’s daughters Ashley and Dominique join the conversation in their first interview together to share their perspective on how their father has shaped their lives and their plans for the future.

Oprah’s Next Chapter with Rev. Al Sharpton airs Sunday at 9/8c on OWN.
