Italian '12 Years a Slave' poster diminishes Chiwetel Ejiofor in favor of Brad Pitt

Brad Pitt is a massive international star, there’s no denying that, but he isn’t star of 12 Years a Slave.

But you wouldn’t know that if you saw an Italian poster promoting the film which is now going viral on the Internet.

The poster diminishes the image of black actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, who plays the main character in the critically acclaimed film, and instead puts Pitt, who plays a small supporting role, front and center.

Buzzfeed reports that alternative posters in Italy feature one of the other white stars of the movie, Michael Fassbender, more prominently than the rest of the cast.
