The Oprah Winfrey network has announced several new original series slated to premiere later this year.
Oh the heels of Oprah’s highly publicized interview with Lindsay Lohan, OWN will debut the highly anticipated docu-series Lindsay, March 9 at 10pm ET. The show follows Lohan on her journey through recovery following a very public period of crisis:
“Having had her career and personal life sidelined by her public struggles, Lindsay is strikingly candid about her life and is more determined than ever to get back on her feet. Cameras follow Lindsay as she returns to New York, reunites with friends and family, and attempts to build a new life. As she works to stay on track amid the demands (and pitfalls) of fame, she opens up as never before, discussing everything from her emotional recovery process to her exhausting run-ins with the paparazzi.”
Also in March NFL Hall of Famer, Deion Sanders, will make his return to reality TV. Deion’s Family Playbook debuts on OWN March 1 and is the compelling real-life story of Deion Sanders, the only professional athlete to ever play in both a Super Bowl and a World Series. The show will follow Sanders as he attempts to raise his five kids as a single father, while also helping to raise four other children who live with him, as well we the twins whom his mother cares for. The series also features Sander’s girlfriend, Tracey Edmonds.
Lastly, the ‘prince of OWN,’ Tyler Perry will bring the 1-hour drama Single Moms Club to the network in the fall. “
“Brought together by an incident at their children’s school, a group of single mothers from different walks of life bond and create a support group that helps them find comedy in the obstacles of life, and inner strength to overcome their personal challenges,” OWN described the show in a press release.
Tyler Perry’s Single Moms Club is written, produced and directed by Tyler Perry and is produced by Tyler Perry Studios.
Last week Perry broke OWN’s ratings record with the season two premiere of his drama The Haves and the Have Nots, which delivered 2.8 million total viewers and became the #1 season premiere in OWN history across all key demos.
