In “Ride Along,” comedian Kevin Hart is a security guard eager to earn the approval of a police officer who is also his soon-to-be brother-in-law, played by Ice Cube. But in real life, Hart hit it off with his co-star right away.
“For me, it was love,” he said during a Wednesday morning visit to TODAY. “It was love at first sight for me.”
Ice Cube, on the other hand, wasn’t so quick to say the same.
“It was instant chemistry,” he corrected.
“No! Just say love,’ Hart shot back. “Say the word love. Say the word love! People like to hear the word love.”
Ice Cube wouldn’t give in, but his chemistry claim was evident. The funnymen had each other in stitches. That back and forth is what made them both so well suited for their roles in “Ride Along,” and for all their off-script banter.
