Remember rapper Ice Cube’s 1993 classic song “It Was A Good Day”?

Do you remember the music video where Ice Cube saw his name on the Goodyear blimp on a peaceful night in L.A.?

Well you’re not the only ones.

Yesterday was a good day indeed for the man born O’Shea Jackson.  In large part due to a south-L.A. youth center, the hometown hero Ice Cube was able to see his name on the Goodyear blimp 20 years later.

The organization called A Place Called Home used a clever internet fundraising campaign to pay homage to the former member of NWA.  Donors were able to raise $25,000 in 2 weeks to have the iconic blimp flown with Cube’s lyrics being scrolled.

“I knew this song had legs when we did it, and it’s actually my most popular song,” Ice Cube said to The Huffington Post. “I never knew that 20 years later, people would still be this interested in the song and the lyrics, and that the song would do something this special for some good kids.”
