Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

The parents of a Florida charter school are outraged that one of their teachers assigned Lil Wayne lyrics to “6 Foot 7 Foot” as English homework.

The goal of the teacher was for his students to find the figurative language used in the profanity-ridden Tha Carter IV‘s standout track, but parents saw no academic value in the song.

The Boyton Beach based charter school administration have distanced themselves away from the 8th grade English teacher, suspending him for three days and claiming the assignment wasn’t authorized.

Hip-hop as a culture has been studied from pre school through college in a variety of ways.

A student at Harvard can still study Tupac Shakur, while Georgetown has offered classes about Jay-Z, but to use “6 Foot 7 Foot” may be going too far for most adults, let alone teens.
