Lupita Nyong’o stuns on the cover of New York magazine

Lupita Nyong’o’s grace is undeniable – but it is her knockout combination of beauty, brains and talent that has catapulted her to become the new “it girl” and landed her on the coveted front page cover of New York magazine.

In their spring fashion issue, the standout publication celebrates the actress who wowed audiences nationwide in her delivery as “Patsey” in Steve McQueen’s 12 Years a Slave. Even off-screen, Nyong’o continues to stun admirers everywhere with red carpet looks that are as divine and immaculate as she is.

In just months, she has transformed from an aspiring actress to being honored as an Academy Award nominee — and in doing so, has become a role model for girls everywhere.

“Lupita is just fantastically impressive—so beautiful, clever, and talented,” said Sally Singer, creative director of digital at Vogue.“She’s a Yale graduate and her first major film is by Steve McQueen. What a pedigree.”

In her feature in NY mag by The Cut, Nyong’o discusses what her life was like growing up, transitions she underwent and her evolution into becoming one of Hollywood’s most talked-about actresses.

She graces the cover of the issue wearing a red and white dress by Stella McCartney – while several more colorful and stunning photos are included in an inside-spread.

“We will probably see her gracing a lot of magazine covers,” said Kelly L. Carter, an Emmy-award-winning entertainment journalist, just days before the NY mag cover was revealed.  “I won’t be surprised if Vogue is negotiating a cover. I hope Lupita, and the women who look like Lupita, will see this as a shift in how dark-skinned women are viewed. It’s another advancement and redefining what a beautiful woman is.”
