Kelis is back on the scene, with a new album called Food, and a cooking show debuting February 26.
For a singer whose biggest hit was the smash single “Milkshake,” it should come as no surprise that cuisine is the theme of her comeback.
But, diverging from the fast food item used as a sexy metaphor for swagger, the artist formerly married to Nas has upgraded her culinary repertoire.
“My passion is food, my life is an adventure to be savored,” Kelis said of the project.
Food, her sixth album, is due out in April. Taking the comestible motif to the max, songs on the forthcoming project include, “Breakfast,” “Cobbler,” “Fish Fry” and “Biscuits ‘n’ Gravy,” Billboard.com reports.
“Jerk Ribs,” complete with a new video, has already been released. That taste of her audio offerings will have to satisfy Kelis fans until the full album hits stores.
Until then, those seeking her special take on food and drink can catch Kelis every Wednesday at 8:30 p.m ET for her new series. The recipes will be her own, as the show grants “an inside look at how she composes food with attitude.”
