Steve Smith contacts young fan who cried after his release from Carolina Panthers

theGRIO REPORT - Wide receiver Steve Smith reached out to a young fan who was upset after Smith was cut from the Panthers last week.

Wide receiver Steve Smith was recently cut from the Carolina Panthers, and a video of one young fan’s heartbroken reaction to the news has gone viral.

After playing in Carolina for 13 years, Smith is headed for Baltimore.

One dad posted a YouTube video of his son, Gavin, crying in response to the Panthers cutting Smith.

“Who are we gonna cheer for on Sundays now?” the boy’s father asked. Gavin responded by yelling, “Nobody!”

While the young fan is clearly upset, his sister suggests cheering for quarterback Cam Newton and says she’s still a fan of the Panthers.

When Smith found the video he took to his Twitter account to track down the boy in the video.
