15 black actors who can replace Columbus Short on 'Scandal'

theGRIO REPORT -- The top 15 black actors who could replace Columbus Short on 'Scandal.'

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

Columbus Short has been fired from “Scandal” for his off-screen antics. We “Gladiators” will sorely miss his character Harrison, but — trust us — not as much as Short will.

Having a role on a primetime network show is something almost every black actor not named Denzel Washington, Will Smith, Morgan Freeman or Jamie Foxx dreams about. Hopefully, Short can get over his personal demons and return to the big or small screen in the near future.

In the meantime, we’re hoping his loss will be someone else’s gain. With so few roles for black men on primetime scripted television, we would love to see another black male character written in the show to replace Harrison. And the show’s creator, Shonda Rhimes, is known for giving African-Americans on-screen opportunities.

There’s no shortage of black men who are ready for primetime, and we put together a list of 15 that Shonda should choose from. These are 15 men who we think have the acting chops to play opposite Kerry Washington while delivering the eye candy that Columbus Short brought to the show.
