Angela Bassett is set to direct an upcoming Whitney Houston biopic that will air as a Lifetime Original Movie.
The new film will be the talented actress’s directorial debut.
“I have such regard for both Whitney’s and Bobby’s amazing talents and accomplishments; and I feel a responsibility in the telling of their story,” said Bassett in a statement, according to Variety. “Their humanity and bond fascinates us all. I’m beyond excited to have this opportunity to go behind the camera and into their world.”
According to a press release from Lifetime, the film will “tell the love story of a legendary icon and Bobby Brown.”
The movie, currently titled Whitney Houston, is scheduled to premiere in 2015.
