A Maryland father struck a male high school teacher with a baseball bat after finding text messages from him on his 15-year-old daughter’s phone.
The teen attends Perry Hall High School in Perry Hall, MD, where the unnamed 42-year-old teaches.
According to authorities, the girl’s mother reported the texts to police when she found them last week.
The Baltimore County Police Department said in a press release that the texts “described an emotional relationship that seemed inappropriate for a teacher and student,” reports WMAR.
While the texts were deemed inappropriate, police spokesperson Elise Armacost said there was nothing criminal in the contents of the text conversations.
The teacher went to the teen’s home to speak to her father late last week, but the father asked him to leave.
When the teacher refused, the father struck him with a baseball bat. The teacher sustained minor injuries and does not plan to press charegs.
Police are not releasing the names of those involved.
