Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

Kerry Washington doesn’t like to talk about her personal life, but sometimes she’ll surprise us with a few words here and there.

In her first interview since welcoming daughter Isabelle Amarachi, the actress spent the majority of her sit-down with The Los Angeles Times answering Scandal questions from Twitter fans, but one user was smart enough to incorporate a bit of her personal life into it.

One user asked, “Now that you’re a mom will it be bittersweet to go back to work?”

“So tricky because you know I don’t talk about this stuff,” Washington began to say.

“But I will say I feel really, really blessed,” Kerry continues. “I just feel really blessed that I’m kind of living extraordinary dreams come true in my work life and in my personal life.” You guys, that’s a lot for Kerry Washington. Feel lucky.

The gorgeous mom first broke her silence about being a mom in May, nearly a month after giving birth to her daughter. “Well…I still wont talk about my personal life on here. But…I see your tweets. And I am filled with gratitude! XO #HappyMothersDay,” she tweeted.

Washington’s very open about her reasoning behind keeping her private life private. “I have girlfriends in this business who talk about their personal lives, and it works for them, and I love it. But not for me. I learned through experience that it doesn’t work for me to talk about my personal life,” the TV star told Glamour last year.
