'Little Women' star Tonya Banks says 'midget' is as offensive as the N-word

Tonya Banks has worked as an actress in TV and film for 30 years and is letting viewers get a glimpse into her world as a little person on Lifetime’s Little Women: LA.

The new docu-series chronicles the adventures of a unique group of smart and hilarious girlfriends with big hearts, big personalities and even bigger drama … who all happen to be little people.

Banks has appeared in several films, including Bad Santa and Death to Smoochie, as well as TV shows including Martin and The Hughleys.

In an interview with theGrio, Banks opens up about how she overcame difficult odds to become one of the only black little women in Hollywood and says wants to be the first black little person to win an Academy Award.

She also discussed the debate surrounding the use of the word ‘midget’ and says it’s equally as offensive as the N-word.
