Belize-born actor cast as Bobby Brown for 'Whitney' film

The upcoming Lifetime movie on Whitney Houston has found its Bobby Brown.

Last week, Entertainment Weekly obtained the first image of Yaya Decosta as Whitney, and Monday, the New York Post got its hands on another photo that will create just as much buzz.

The image shows DeCosta as the smile-toting and beautiful Houston wrapped arm-in-arm with ex-husband Bobby Brown, who is being portrayed by Belize-born actor Arlen Escarpeta.

This is the first look of the couple from the film and Escarpeta’s first official image from the movie. It is undoubtedly quite a role for Escarpeta, whose body of work includes acting credits in The ShieldJudging AmyBoomtownER and Cold Case.

The biopic, which is being directed by Angela Basset, is set to chronicle the rise and success of Houston’s musical fame — along with the hardships she faced during more personal moments in her life.

Houston and Brown wed in 1992, and their rocky relationship followed the entertainers everywhere they went.

In 1993, they welcomed their daughter Bobbi Kristina — who has not been as supportive of the film and lashed out as Bassett through a series of harsh tweets calling her a “basket case.”

The Whitney biopic is scheduled to air on Lifetime in 2015.
