Kevin Hart gets engaged during ex-wife’s new reality show
Kevin Hart has just got engaged to his long-term girlfriend, Eniko Parrish.
The comedic actor popped the question during his lady’s 30th birthday bash Monday evening.
In a video clip that captures the big moment, the funnyman took to a microphone to make his surprise proposal.
“Which is why on this perfect day, I chose to make the most perfect decision,” he gushed before getting down on bended knee to present Parrish with a huge diamond sparkler.
Parrish, who was clearly stunned, gasped before planting a kiss on her famous beau of five years.
Hart, 35, later posted a picture to Instagram with the news. “She said YEEEEESSSSS… #Happy #MyRib #iF——LoveHer,” he wrote, alongside a photograph of the smitten couple, with Parrish flashing her gigantic rock.
“I said YES!!!!! To the most amazing man in the world,” Hart’s new fiancée, an aspiring model and actress, said in her own post.
Still, the timing of Hart’s announcement has raised a few eyebrows. His romantic, very public proposal came as the series premiere of his ex-wife’s new VH1 reality show, Atlanta Exes, was being aired.
Not surprisingly, this has lead to some criticism, with some of Hart’s social media followers accusing the Hollywood star of being “petty” and trying to take the “shine” off his ex’s new TV gig.
In Atlanta Exes, which has been billed as an opportunity for celebrity exes to tell their stories, Torrei Hart talks candidly about her husband’s alleged infidelities and the strain of going through a divorce.
Torrei, the mother of Hart’s two young children, has also been vocal about her feelings for Parrish.
While Hart claims he met his now-girlfriend after his marriage was over, Torrei says she was his mistress prior to the breakdown of their marriage.
“Despite what Kevin has said, and the time frames he is trying to establish, she was his mistress and was one of the reasons that broke up my family,” Torrei attempted to set the record straight on TMZ.
In interviews, she has made no secret of her desire to step out of her ex-husband’s shadow and relaunch her career, which she says took a back seat during her marriage.
“I am very excited about this year,” Hart said during an interview with theGrio earlier this year. “I have been working hard for years. I was his [Kevin’s] backbone.”
“I put myself on the backburner. Torrei is finally doing what she wants to do. Now I am free to focus on me and still be supported by my ex.”
On Tuesday morning on V-103’s “The Ryan Cameron Morning Show,” Torrei reacted to Hart’s engagement. “I think it’s beautiful. Love is beautiful. I’m actually in love, too.”
Still, when asked if her ex would cheat on his bride-to-be, Torrei said, “He cheated on me. What makes her any different?”
