Just a day ago, we asked, “What’s next for Michael Sam?” Well, now we know.

The Cowboys have reportedly signed the defensive end to their practice squad.

The NFL rookie was selected in the seventh round of the NFL draft by the St. Louis Rams but at the end of preseason, Sam was not selected for the team’s 53-man roster or their 10-man practice squad, leaving him a free-agent.

NFL Network‘s Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday that the Cowboys spent time calling current players to gauge their reaction to signing Sam.

Later the same day, the Cowboys expressed interest and flew Sam to Dallas, giving new life to Sam’s dreams of being an NFL player.

Clarence Hill Jr. of The Star-Telegram first tweeted Wednesday’s news:

The former SEC’s defensive player of the year had 2.5 sacks and 11 tackles during four preseason games with the Rams.
