EA Sports announced plans to remove Ray Rice from American football video game Madden NFL 15 in response to the Baltimore Ravens running back’s suspension from the league.

This move was confirmed by EA Friday and was reported by Mike Garofolo of Fox Sports 1.

This decision came after a shocking online video was released showing Rice punching and knocking his wife unconscious. The aftermath of this video has led to the termination of Rice’s contract with the Ravens and his indefinite suspension from the NFL.

EA Sports confirmed the news in a tweet:

Rice’s removal is not the first time EA Sports has removed a player because of a scandal.

Last year, Aaron Hernandez of the New England Patriots was also removed from two games after he was indicted on several murder charges.

Madden NFL 15 was recently released and has earned an 8.7 on current generation consoles.
