Kanye West on wheelchair snafu: I'm a Christian, pick another target
theGRIO REPORT - Kanye West is under fire for stopping a performance to wait for a wheelchair bound fan to stand up.
Kanye West seems to be upset at the flurry of negative press he’s been receiving for demanding that a wheelchair-bound fan stand up during his gig last Friday in Sydney, Australia. TMZ attained video of Kanye pausing in the middle of his popular song “Good Life” and said that he would not continue until every fan in the area was on their feet.
When he saw fans who remained seated, he then sent bodyguard Pascal Duvier to check that they were indeed wheelchair-bound. While Kanye meant well, the video is a bit hard to watch and will definitely make you feel sorry for the wheelchair-bound fan, who was booed by the crowd. Criticism directed at Kanye for this snafu came fast and furious, and apparently, “Yeezy” has been feeling the heat.
Last night in Brisbane, Australia, the 37-year-old rapper went on another one of his now infamous rants where he told the media to stop picking on him, according to those in attendance.
“I’m a married, Christian man with a family; pick another target,” West said.
However this time around, West did seem to soften his demand for a standing crowd, according to the Courier Mail.
“Everybody who is not in a wheelchair or handicapped will stand up,” he told the Brisbane audience. “If you can not prove to me that you are in a wheelchair, you need to be standing; if you can, it is okay to sit down.”
