An activist group in Florida recently launched video ads and a billboard promoting a so-called new clothing line — bulletproof vests for boys of color.

The video and billboard both belong to Dream Defenders‘ “Vest or Vote” campaign, which advocates voting and registering to vote in order to speak out and change the atmosphere of violence that led to recent, high-profile killings — including the shooting deaths of Michael Brown by a police officer in Missouri and Trayvon Martin in Florida.

The group explains the ads in a description on their website.

“No one wants to live in a world where bulletproof vests are the norm,” the description reads. “Vote on November 4th (and earlier, in Florida and most states), and let’s together take a stand on laws, like Stand Your Ground, that create fear and insecurity in our communities.”
