Jaden Smith sent out an open challenge to fellow rappers via Twitter on Friday, writing in a tweet, “Dear Everybody Who Can Rap Better Than Me. Please Show Me.”
The 16-year-old rapper and actor, who earlier this week landed on Time’s list of “25 Most Influential Teens,” recently released a song on his sister Willow Smith’s Soundcloud called “Melancholy.” In the track, Smith raps over a sample of the classic Pink Floyd song “Breathe” from the album Dark Side of the Moon.
Smith followed up his first tweet with two more, the next saying, “Cause I Got 2 Or 3 Albums In Stock Ready,” and then the final one driving the point home with Smith writing, “You Just Give Me The Word.”
There was no mention of when and if these albums would be released. Smith is currently signed to Columbia Records and appeared on Pop Superstar
Justin Bieber’s 2012 single “Never Say Never,” featuring Smith, came out the same year Smith released a mixtape called The Cool Café. He is currently slated to star in The Good Lord Bird, playing a young slave who meets famous abolitionist John Brown. No release or filming dates have been announced for the movie as of yet.
A sequel to Smith’s first mixtape, aptly titled The Cool Café: The Cool Tape Vol. 2, has been mentioned by the young rapper, but a release date hasn’t been set.
