A Georgia man has been charged with fourth-degree assault after a meeting with his online “girlfriend” turned violent.

Cornelius Jefferson allegedly choked a woman he met online because she “didn’t look like” her Internet profile, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader.

Jefferson, 33, arrived in Kentucky from Georgia because he intended to move there to be closer to the woman. It’s unclear what time Jefferson arrived, but he was found earlier this week.

A full description of the events was posted to the Laurel County Sheriff Department’s Facebook page:

The arrest occurred off Spencer road, 7 miles North of London after deputies were dispatched to a domestic complaint there. When Deputy Morris arrived at the scene, he learned that there had been an argument between this subject and his girlfriend. The argument was allegedly because the male subject didn’t think she [looked] like she [looked] on the internet. He allegedly choked her with both hands around the neck and threw food on her and left the scene on foot with two suitcases.

After police were called to the scene, they quickly found and arrested Jefferson. He is being held at a Laurel County detention facility.
