Usher on Justin Bieber’s antics: ‘I’ll punch him in the f***ing chest when I need to’
theGRIO REPORT - Recently, Usher told Billboard magazine that he was “not happy” with some of the young singer’s recent behavior.
It’s no secret R&B star Usher has served as a mentor to pop superstar Justin Bieber.
Usher told Billboard recently that he was “not happy” with some of the young singer’s recent behavior.
Bieber’s latest run-in with the law occurred in August when he was arrested for misdemeanor dangerous driving and assault.
Usher, who has helped guide the Canadian pop star since he broke into the spotlight at 13, also told Billboard that the pair’s relationship is “more man-to-man now.”
The 36-year-old singer adds:
He’s making his own decisions and it’s important to show support. I can say I’m not happy with all the choices my friend has made, but I’m supportive of him. I try my hardest to give as much positive reinforcement as I can. I’ll punch him in the f—ing chest when I need to, and give him a hug and kiss when I need to. It’s more than just mentoring. I love the kid.
This week, Usher summarized his feelings on Bieber’s maturity:
There’s not really much to talk about. He’s living out his life. I think that we all have experienced, been through sh*t, and you go through it. It’s my new motto: Sh*t happens, what are you going to do?
