Star Trek star Nichelle Nichols was stopped at the Los Angeles airport on Friday because her traveling companion was carrying drugs.

Nichols, who played Lt. Uhura on the cult-classic TV series, was at an American Airlines terminal when her male companion’s suitcase fell open, revealing a bag of meth, according to TMZ.

Nichols was released and allowed to board her flight after assuring police that she knew nothing about the drugs, but the man was arrested for drug possession.

The 81-year-old star’s rep identified the man as Nichols’ assistant and told TMZ that the luggage contained an e-cigarette, not meth.
