Conservative news site Breitbart tries to come for Loretta Lynch and fails miserably
Conservative news site Breitbart had one of those “good news, bad news” moments. The bad news? They attacked the wrong Loretta Lynch in an article about President Obama’s newest nominee for attorney general. The good news? The correction they added at the end of the article was actually kind of hilarious.
In the now-removed article, Breitbart referred to Loretta Lynch as a former defense attorney for President Bill Clinton during the Whitewater scandal and as a Clinton campaign aide. But the Loretta Lynch who did those things was actually a California-based attorney who once served as a California Public Utilities Commissioner.
The Loretta Lynch who is the president’s nominee for attorney general is Brooklyn’s top federal prosecutor, served as U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of New York and would be the first black woman appointed to the position if the Senate confirms her.
Breitbart updated the article and another piece in their Talking Points Memo notes before they took it down Sunday night. The correction, tacked onto the end of the article before it was removed, read simply: “Correction: The Loretta Lynch identified earlier as the Whitewater attorney was, in fact, a different attorney.”
