Brandy and Monica’s late 90s classic, “The Boy Is Mine,” might soon be somebody else’s hit.

In an interview with HITS Daily Double, the song’s producer Rodney Jerkins said he’s working on a new project for 2015 which includes a remake of “Boy Is Mine” featuring Ariana Grande and Jessie J.

The two pop stars recently collaborated on one of 2014’s biggest hits, “Bang Bang,” along with rapper Nicki Minaj. The original “Boy Is Mine” won a grammy for Best R&B Song and was nominated for two more.

The news of a remake didn’t sit well with everyone.

“The Boy Is Mine” became a national trending topic on Twitter Tuesday.

Jerkins tells HITS he’s also working with British singer Sam Smith on a remake of Whitney Houston’s “It’s Not Right, but It’s Okay.”

Jerkins produced the Top 5 hit for Houston in 1999.
