Five Philadelphia-area adults have been charged with the abuse and sexual assault of five children under the age of 12.

The adults allegedly shot the children with BB guns and punched them while also forcing them to watch sexual acts between the adults. They were also thrown over a bannister. The children involved ranged from 1 year old to 10 years of age.

Shakia Jackson, 31, Daryl Carter, 24, Mark Isom, 22, Danielle Hammond, 22, and William Wade, 23, allegedly committed the abuse at a home in Darby, Pennsylvania. The three males charged in connection with the crime once held down a woman and forced a 2-year-old boy’s genitals into her mouth.

Jackson told police that, “she and the other adults were only playing and the children wanted to be shot.”

But Delaware County DA Jack Whelan thought differently, saying that, “It’s almost unbelievable, I mean you can’t even imagine the horror that these children had to live under.”

The five adults have been under investigation since June. Jackson and Hammond are the five abused children’s mothers, according to NBC Philadelphia.

The adults have been charged with corruption of minors, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, simple assault and other crimes in connection to the abuse.
