Grammy winner Mary J. Blige says she has one important rule when it comes to her marriage: her husband isisn’t allowed to have any female friends.
The Grammy winning singer recently opened up about her 11 year marriage to her husband/manager Kendu Isaacs during an interview with Stella magazine.
Blige revealed that in order to make their marriage work, she and Isaacs have made a pact to not have any friends of the opposite sex.
“All females for me, all guys for him. There’s none of that, ‘Oh, that’s my female friend, Oh, that’s my guy friend,'” Blige said. “No, not in a marriage, I’ve never seen that work.”
The “No More Drama” singer also opened up about being a stepmother to Isaac’s three children from a previous relationship. “I was never sitting around thinking, ‘Oh God, I want a baby,'” the 43-year-old singer said. “And then these very special kids came along, and it was like they were tailor-made for me to be their stepmom. I’ve known the younger two since they were babies, so they really are my family.”
What do you think about Mary and Kendu’s take on having friends of the opposite sex? Is their pact really realistic for a healthy marriage?
