Woman died in police custody after reciting the 'Lord’s Prayer’

A 911 call ended in tragedy when a woman died in police custody after reciting the “Lord’s Prayer.”
On Wednesday, the family of Tanisha Anderson spoke out about the incident, saying that they called 911 for mental health help but that when police arrived, they used a violent takedown maneuver that left Anderson collapsed on the sidewalk, out in the cold, until an ambulance arrived.
Cleveland police have not released the 911 call made by family members that would allegedly show that the family was only asking for medical and mental health assistance. A separate 911 call released from the incident has a man asking for an ambulance, not police. 911 records also show that the family waited 31 minutes after their call and then tried again.
Cleveland police have not commented on the story, citing an ongoing investigation, and many activists believe that the silence is part of a cover-up.
Donations can be made for Anderson’s family, including her teenage daughter, at any KeyBank location for the Tanisha Nicole Anderson Memorial Fund.
