Dornnella Conners loses eye after officer fires at her vehicle

Earlier this week, Dornnella Connors drove into Ferguson to join protesters supporting Michael Brown.

Now, she’s blind in her left eye and can barely see out of her right one, according to St. Louis’ KMOV.

Connors and her boyfriend, De’Angelas Lee, were leaving a gas station near Ferguson when multiple officers arrived. The officers were responding to reports of gunfire at the station and wanted to clear the area.

Connors said Lee, who was driving, attempted to get “around” the officers and exit. Officers claim Lee drove towards them.

One officer fired a “less lethal, beanbag round” into the car’s front window. The glass shattered on Connors’ side.

She received medical attention shortly afterwards. The officer has not been identified.

Connors father, Donnell, talked to KMOV about the situation:

I’m very upset, very disappointed with tactics that they used trying to get control of situation. I understand tough job, I understand that it was chaos, there was no reason to fire upon innocent person sitting in a vehicle.

KMOV reports a warrant is still out for the arrest of Lee.
