A GOP staffer offered an apology after blasting Sasha and Malia Obama on Facebook for their appearance during the White House turkey pardon ceremony. Elizabeth Lauten, the director of communications for Tennessee U.S. Congressman Stephen Fincher, asked the Obama girls to “try showing a little class” and to “dress like you deserve respect, not a spot at a bar.”

The turkey pardoning is a lighthearted spectacle for the media and kids. It’s one of the rare occasions that we get a prolonged glimpse of the Obama girls. But apparently no one informed Lauten of the unspoken but well-known rule that presidents’ children are off limits for criticism, especially when they underaged.

After considerable backlash from her petty attack on the teenage girls, Lauten took to Facebook once again and offered the following apology:
