The Williamsburg Yorktown Daily is reporting that a 22-year-old Hampton man is facing 20 years in prison and a $2,500 fine after waiving a grand jury hearing and pleading guilty to stealing two pairs of sunglasses in James City County, VA.

In October, Tyler Dean Williams and his brother went to a Sunglass Hut to try on shades, according to Williamsburg-James City County Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Michael Gaten. After they left the store an employee noticed that two pairs of glasses — with a combined worth of $600 — were missing and reported it to police.

Law enforcement was able to track the siblings down and found the glasses in the armrest of Williams’ car. His brother was unaware of the missing glasses and offered to pay for the pair of glasses. The shades were returned to the store.

Traces of cocaine were found in Williams’ wallet, but the felony drug possession charge was eventually dropped.

According to WY Daily:

As part of a plea agreement, the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office will not argue against the recommended sentencing guidelines created by the probation officer in a pre-sentence report.

Tyler Williams’ sentencing is scheduled for March 11, 2015.
