SNL decided to cut one of the three Ferguson skits they had planned for this weekend. The two they featured were the opening spoof of Rev. Al Sharpton’s MSNBC coverage and the first portion of “Weekend Update.” But some believe they should have kept the third.
The sketch, which was posted by Saturday Night Live on YouTube, features a flowery morning news show with two anchors very nervous about touching the third rail issue of the Ferguson protests and riots. The morning show, called “Rise and Smiles with Kip and Jenny,” features Kenan Thompson and Cecily Strong as black and white co-anchors who try to avoid any topic remotely related to the riots. Guest host James Franco also makes a visit to the set as a chef named “Darryl Wilson.”
