Titi Branch, co-founder of Miss Jessie's hair care, dead at 45

Titi Branch, co-founder of the successful natural hair care line “Miss Jessie’s” has died.

An obituary for Branch was posted to the Facebook page of NV Magazine.

A family friend confirmed the tragedy to the Washington Post. She was 45 years old.

Branch and her sister Miko launched Miss Jessie’s as one of the first natural hair care products on Target’s shelves, and the company soon exploded into popularity and into bigger and farther-reaching markets.

Branch is credited with creating Miss Jessie’s Curly Pudding, one of the most popular products. The circumstances of Branch’s death are unknown.

NV Magazine‘s obituary of Branch lists the cause of death as an “apparent suicide,” but this has not been confirmed.

Miss Jessie’s popularity has in part influenced the expansion of hair care for black and natural hair.

Titi’s family will release a formal statement online by the “end of the week,” according to a source.
