The girlfriend of John Crawford, who was shot and killed by police in an Ohio Wal-Mart last summer, died in a New Year’s Day car accident in Dayton.

According to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office, 26-year-old Tasha Thomas and 30-year-old Frederick Bailey were killed in Thursday’s crash.

Authorities say both passengers were ejected from the car during Thursday’s accident. They were not wearing seatbelts.

WDTN reports the vehicle was speeding over 90mph at the time it crashed, flipping and hitting a tree.

Crawford, 22, picked up an air rifle off a shelf in the Beavercreek Wal-Mart while shopping August 5. After receiving a 9-1-1 call from a fellow shopper, police entered the store and seconds later shot and killed Crawford.

A grand jury decided in September that no criminal charges would be filed against the officers involved.
