Father calls police to witness him spank his daughter

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

A Florida man wanted to be sure there could be no accusations of wrongdoing when he spanked his child, so he called the police to be witness to the punishment.

Apparently, Dale Garcia had come home to hear about his two 12-year-old daughters having a fight. One had locked herself in her room, and the other used a knife to pick the lock. He wanted to spank the one who had used the knife, so he told the police his intentions.

A deputy came to witness the father spank the child four times and then left. “Since no crime had been committed, this case is closed and no further action is required,” the deputy concluded his report.

Surprisingly, this is not the first time a call like this has come in. “It happens,” said OCSO Major Noel Stephen.

“And has happened several times in the past. But it’s definitely not something we advertise to do. It’s a call here and there…. And even though law enforcement has been willing to help out in this situation, watching a parent discipline their child is something that’s done only when a deputy has no other calls to handle.”
