A Staten Island woman was arrested Thursday after she choked her 12-year-old daughter in front of school officials.
According to the NY Daily News, Bintu Fofanah arrived at the Lavelle School after receiving a call from school administrators, who said her daughter was not wearing the school uniform.
The 36-year-old got into an argument with the girl and repeatedly punched, slapped and choked her.
Port Authority Police Department spokesman Joe Pentangelo told the Daily News Fofanah has been charged with assault and reckless endangerment of a child, as well as strangulation.
Authorities are looking into reports the mother had previously attacked the child.
