Trevor Noah, the most recent addition to “The Daily Show,” could end up headlining the Comedy Central show after Jon Stewart leaves.
Noah joined the cast just recently, in December, but already the 31-year-old South African comedian has been placed on the short list of those being considered to replace Stewart, a source told Variety.
Since February 10, when Stewart shocked viewers by announcing his plans to leave his long-time post at The Daily Show, rumors have circulated about possible replacements. The 52-year-old Stewart had established The Daily Show as a political force, known as much for its satire as for its political clout, since taking over the show in 1999. With Stewart stepping down, the pressure is on to find someone to fill his late-night shoes.
