theGRIO REPORT - Rapper Kanye West says he blames himself for his mother's death in new interview...

Kanye West is opening up about a subject he rarely discusses: his mother’s death.

In 2007, Donda West, an English professor, died at the age of 58 from complications surrounding a plastic surgery procedure.

West talks candidly about the sudden loss of his mother in a new interview with the UK’s Q magazine.

In an excerpt from the interview obtained by Us Weekly and Heatworld, West says he blames himself for his mother’s death.

When asked by the magazine what has been the biggest sacrifice he’s made in his life for his career, West says, “My mom.”

“If I had never moved to L.A. she’d be alive,” West continues as he spoke of his mother who inspired his fashion line, DONDA. “I don’t want to go far into it because it will bring me to tears.”

The August issue of Q magazine hits newsstands June 30.
