All Arthur Booth could say was “Oh my goodness.”

Thursday, Booth was brought before Judge Mindy Glazer in bond court, after his arrest on multiple charges including resisting arrest, burglary and grand theft.

“Did you go to Nautilus Middle School?” Glazer asked Booth. The Miami-Dade County judge clearly recognized him.

That’s when Booth, realizing the two had in fact been classmates, broke down.

The 49-year-old man covered his head in his hands and began to cry. Over and over, he said the same thing: “Oh my goodness.”

Judge Glazer then addressed Booth with compassion.

“I’m sorry to see you there, I always wondered what happened to you sir,” Glazer said, as Booth continued crying. “This was the nicest kid in middle school, he was the best kid in middle school. I used to play football with him, all the kids, and look what has happened.”

Judge Glazer continued.

“I am so sorry to see you there. Mr. Booth, I hope you are able to change your ways, good luck to you,” she said. “What’s sad is how old we’ve become. Good luck to you sir, I hope you are able to come out of this ok and just lead a lawful life.”

Booth was arrested after being spotted driving a gold Honda Accord that was suspected of being involved in a burglary.

When police spotted him, he fled, and after the ensuing chase, he crashed the car and tried to flee on foot before he was finally caught.
