theGRIO REPORT - The Harris sextuplets, from Birmingham, Alabama, are the first set of African-American sextuplets to survive, and now, they are celebrating their 13th birthdays.
The Harris sextuplets from Birmingham, Alabama just got a little older.
This week, Kiera, Kaylynne, Kaleb, Kobe, Kyle and Kieran each celebrated their 13th birthday. And they all partied big on Good Day Alabama.
“They kinda faded out of the limelight because we chose to raise them in that old-fashioned Southern tradition just to make them feel like everyone else,” the sextuplet’s mom Daimond Canty said on the morning show. “There’s nothing special about them because they were the famous sextuplets that were on TV. They’re doing the same things every a normal 12 to13-year-olds have been doing and we’re looking forward to what’s gonna come in the future.”
Back in 2001, the family appeared on Oprah’s show.
Asked by the host about what it’s like to raise six young teens, Canty responded with jokes.
“Our house is one big hormone, right now,” Canty laughed.
