Amandla Stenberg blasts Kylie Jenner for 'appropriating black culture' with cornrows

When 17-year-old Kylie Jenner posted a picture of her new cornrows on social media, the internet didn’t take it too well.

“I woke up like disss,” was the caption on the image that sparked the controversy, and Disney’s Amandla Stenberg blasted her for it.

“When u appropriate black features and culture but fail to use ur position of power to help black Americans by directing attention towards ur wigs instead of police brutality or racism #whitegirlsdoitbetter,” said Stenberg in a comment on Jenner’s picture.

“Mad if I do… mad if I don’t. Go hang w Jaden or something,” Jenner replied, referencing the fact that Stenberg had attended prom with Jaden Smith.

This is not the first time Stenberg has called out stars for their cultural appropriation. She made similar comments back in April.
