Former NFL player 37-year-old JaJuan Dawson’s body has reportedly been discovered after he fell into a North Texas lake and drowned over the weekend.

On Sunday evening, Dawson was out on a boat on Lavon Lake in Collin County, Texas with three children and two adults when he fell in.

He was not wearing a life preserver and never surfaced after hitting the water, according to NBC Dallas-Fort Worth. Family members were not sure if he knew how to swim or not.

Although officials say they do not believe alcohol contributed to Dawson’s death, they have not released an official cause of death.

Dawson played in the NFL for three years. He played first for the Browns in 2000 and 2001 before joining the Houston Texans in 2002. Since retirement, he had been working as a Sr. Sales Representative for Boston Scientific, Peripheral Interventions.
