Tyrese uses sleeping woman to promote album, did he cross the line?

theGRIO REPORT - Tyrese is taking album promotion to the next level. The singer has been furiously tweeting, posting and encouraging his fans and followers to buy his new album, 'Black Rose'...

Who told Tyrese that posting a self-promotional Instagram video next to a sleeping woman in public was a good idea?

That’s exactly what the R&B singer did over the weekend as he continues to promote his new Black Rose album.

“See, we got a bunch of people sleeping on R&B,” he says in the video. “And my ‘Black Rose’ album just came out tonight and they say fans don’t buy full albums no more. This is what R&B looks like.”

The “looks like” reference is the moment he turns to the sleeping woman. Get it? R&B is dead or dormant – just like the woman he’s sitting next to.

Several commentators are wondering if the woman is homeless or even consented to the video either before or after it was recorded.

“Hello,” he asks the woman. She does not ‘wake up’ or respond.

Dejected, the video ends with Tyrese getting up off the ledge and leaving. The Instagram caption to his video is below in full:

Is R&B dead.?? What happened to REAL R&B Fans?? Can we SAVE R&B Soul Music? Are the days of REAL singers over?? Link in my bio let’s make a statement buy the FULL ALBUM now…

Tyrese has recently been criticized for his social media tactics. This most recent ‘stunt’ probably won’t win him much praise outside of the thousands of tears emojis displayed in the comment section.
