Savannah Peterson was devastated after a head-on crash left her and her family without a means of transportation.
But a week after the crash, on Tuesday, she was surprised when a brand new replacement car pulled into her home.
Peterson and her fiance had been using the SUV so that the two of them could get to their restaurant jobs, and they desperately needed a replacement after a head-on crash that occurred.
According to police, when another vehicle crossed the center line and hit Peterson. Two people were killed in the crash, and another was injured.
Peterson, 28, and her 8-year-old daughter, Aniya McCall, spent a week at Covenant HealthCare recovering from the trauma, and when Dick Garber, owner of the car dealership Garber Management Group, heard about what happened, he wanted to help.
After all, he himself had been the victim of a car accident before and knew what it was like.
“He said, ‘I want to give her a vehicle,'” Peterson’s step father, Daryl Watson said. “His heart was moved to help.”
“We’re really blessed as a company,” Garber said. “We’ve had so much support from the community. That has put us in the position to do more.”
When the new SUV arrived, Peterson wept with joy.
“I’ve been really down,” she said. “I’m thinking I’ve lost everything and how am I going to bounce back? It’s given me hope.”
“It lifted my spirits. I’m truly blessed.”
